I think the brain does work in a deep way like you described. Music is like a door to the subconciousness and taps into a deep part of out brain in ways day to day chit chat can not. I found your article most interesting, as I always want to turn the music off so I can concentrate on the task at hand. My husband loves it on when he does his desk work and always amazes me. What I have found to be true is that music speaks directly to the subconscious, which can then later speak to us through dreams or experience. Two of many examples: I taught a kids song-catchy tune-message about 'don't give up.' When I was having difficulty weeks later doing a certain task, the tune popped into my mind to remind me to persevere. At another time, I was learning another catchy tune to teach the children which went 'just say I'm sorry, I'm sorry, that's what you have to do...' and I sang the tune over and over to learn it properly. That night I saw my father in a dream, and was given the chance to say I'm sorry to him for many things that occurred while he was alive, for which I had not properly apologized.When I sing these songs over and over to learn them, it seems that the message gets imbedded in my subconscious and later comes back to me when I need the message.
